Journalling Christmas/December Daily - Keeping it Super Simple

I am having a go at keeping a Christmas journal this year but it is SUPER SIMPLE.
No fancy techniques or products for me. Mostly I am printing photos and writing straight on them.
Occasionally I am adding a punched tag or some tiny alphas. And for days where I don't have a suitable photo I am writing on some scraps of card and paper!

I decided to make my Christmas mini-book 5x7 inches in size. Any photos are being printed that size. I haven't made the covers yet but envisage they will be slightly bigger (probably 5.5x7.5inches). I have ordered this cute patch for the front cover and am just waiting for it to come from my Mum's house where I got it delivered and then I will get the covers made.
I am sticking photos back to back, punching them and joining them with book rings.

Here's a sneak peek at the pages so far. I'll try and post all of them in batches as December goes on...

Inside front cover - explaining what the book is and why, written over a photo of our mantel on 30th November...

Our Christmas tree...

A cute pic of the baby and the husband...

A photo from Christmas in the Square which may not look very Christmas-sy to those of you in the Northern Hemisphere but this is what Christmas looks like (Summery!) here in NZ :-)

A double page regarding our visit to Santa's Cave (which has existed in Palmy for a very long time - the monkeys you can see to the right of this picture are from the 1960's and completely freaked me out with their moving eyes!)

and the photo with Santa taken at Santa's Cave...

Next up we had an unexpected day at home so did some festive chalk painting...

We didn't have any decent photos from the 6th so I printed one of the reindeer noses and wrote about them instead (there are a few things like this I have saved up to add in as I go)...

This series of photos isn't at all festive but I wanted to include it as it's a fantastic snapshop of life right now in our house...

Next I included our actual Christmas card from this year (which I got printed up with a photo of baby)...

In the inside of the card I listed everyone we sent cards to this year (scribbled all over with Paint for privacy purposes) and some other notes about the cards including how I managed to print the text inside the wrong way up compared to the photo on the front!

And here's the back of our card as it includes some Out-take shots so I couldn't cover it up!

The only issue with the 5x7 format is I can't print at home so I am saving up a few days photos and printing them all at once. I have a little index card  that I am updating daily with what I want to include for that day, which photo to print and some notes so it's quite easy to get the text on the photos once they are printed.

So as I said - super simple but I quite like it this way. Easy to do when December is completely manic!

My Christmas mini-book is inspired by a few different people...
In the past I have done Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class and I am getting those prompts this year but aren't actually opening them. I am keeping them though for days where I run out of ideas!
I'm also enjoying Ali Edwards' December Daily posts and this is another good place for ideas of what to include.
And finally Elise Blaha is doing a holiday minibook.

You can see my 2010 Christmas Journal here.
